Polish sisters gave their whole life to the creation of sovereign Lithuania. The wives of the first President of the Republic of Lithuania and the Prime Minister not only actively supported the most important men of the country, but also made a big impact on the internal and foreign political affairs. A lot of the countries' ambassadors' letters and memories bear witness to the fact that these women often played more crucial roles than men in charge.

Jadvyga was the first woman diplomat in Lithuanian diplomatic history. Sofija influenced many diplomats to accept favourable decisions for Lithuania.
